Everyone passes through times in their life when they need someone to talk to. At Hope Lutheran Church we have developed a very intentional short-term ministry just for that purpose: The Hope Connection.
Who is The Hope Connection? The Hope Connection is comprised of a small group of Hope Lutheran Church members known as Hope Caregivers. These men and women of all ages have a
variety of life experiences and a willingness to help others in times of need. They usually have spiritual gifts such as encouragement,
helping, and caring. They have been trained in listening skills and in handling of confidential matters. They are willing to listen to and pray with you once a week for six weeks.
What is The Hope Connection? It is a one-on-one care-giving ministry where a trained caregiver is matched with someone in the congregation who is going through a "life challenge," such as:
- Dealing with a death of a loved one - Health problems - Burdens of providing care for a family member with health problems - Mild depression - Loneliness
- Struggles with issues around divorce - Loss of a job - Feeling displaced after a move - Parenting issues, including those for single parents, new parents, and parents whose children are having problems
- Concerns over aging parents and their needs
The Hope Connection is a ministry of listening, praying and encouraging only. It is not intended to take the place of pastoral and/or professional counseling.
Who should I call for more information about The Hope Connection? If you are facing a life challenge, please call the church office and/or speak to
Pastor Brad. If you believe that the continued support of a brother or sister in Christ would be helpful, mention your willingness to have a Hope caregiver
contact you. Jim Paul, The Hope Connection coordinator, will then be contacted, and he will assign a Hope caregiver to you to provide comfort and support. Pick
up a brochure with this information on the Welcome Center to pass to someone who might benefit from this ministry. |
