Worship Support

Altar Guild volunteers fill the wine cups, set up the altar before worship and between services, and at the end of the morning, they clean the dishes and clear the altar area. Individuals will usually only help before and after one service on a Sunday. They are scheduled to help once every 4-6 weeks.

Flower Guild (coordinate flower arrangements for Sundays & holidays)

Ushers help make the worship service run smoothly. They hand out bulletins, light the candles, collect the offering, invite people forward for communion, move chairs, and basically help people to worship. The ushers at the 11:00 AM service also close all windows and lock up the building.

Nursery volunteers help with child care during church services or activities.

Worship Leaders assist the pastor in leading worship services. They read the prayers, collect the offering and assist with communion.

Communion Assistants help distribute communion by holding the cup or the tray of small cups. They are scheduled to help once every 1 - 2 months.

Greeters stand in the entrance ways and verbally welcome people to worship. They also direct people to the Welcome Desk, restrooms, nursery, and Sunday School rooms as the need arises. This position is vitally important for it is the hope that all who enter the doors of this church will know that they are valued.

Readers read one to two lessons during one of the services on a Sunday. They are scheduled to read once every 2 -3 months.

Worship Coordinators assit in any way needed to assure that the worship service runs smoothly. The main duty is to check off other worship assistants as they arrive and find last minute replacements for those not present.

Media Team volunteers include technicians who run the sound board and prepare power point presentations for special events.

Trustees come in early on Sunday morning to open the church, shovel the sidewalk if necessary and make sure that all is in place for the arrival of guests.

Narthex Welcome Desk volunteers stay at the Welcome Desk before and after services in order to answer questions and provide information as needed. Some familiarity with the church, its structure, and programmatic offerings is helpful. They are scheduled to help once a month.

Music Ministry

Traditional Choir is for high school students and adults. This choir provides music for the 8:15 AM service twice a month. Practices are weekly on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 - 8:00 PM.

Contemporary Worship Teams provide music for the 9:30 and 11:00 AM worship services. Some teams practice 1 1/2 hours during the week, while others only meet at 8:30 AM on the Sunday morning before they sing. Each team leads worship once a month. It is possible to be on more than one team!

Liturgical Dancers use dance to convey Christian messages and praise God. It is open to boys and girls first grade through adult.

Orchestra is for the intermediate level musician. This group provides music for special services throughout the year. The practices are held on Sunday mornings and some evenings during the week.

Joyful Noise choir is especially designed for 4 and 5 year olds. Through music and movement, children learn Christian songs. They sing during worship services once a month and practice on Wednesday evenings.
