Welcome to Hope's Virtual Contemporary Worship Service

One of the many great things about Hope is the excitement and fulfillment that members feel when they worship on Sunday mornings.  What follows below is a look at our contemporary worship service with audio excerpts.  Enjoy your journey through our "virtual worship service" and we hope to see you for the real thing on Sunday morning!

Pre-Service:  At this time, Hope's members and guests assemble into the sanctuary and gather their hearts and minds for worship.  Members can reflect on the:

Worship's Theme:  Click on the link to see examples of worship themes.

Worship's Silent Prayer:  Click on the link to read examples of silent prayers.

Gathering:  The gathering begins the worship service where we gather to give glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.  This involves:

Gathering Songs and Songs of Praise:  Click on the link to hear examples.

Call to Worship:  The Pastors lead the congregation in a response of prayer and praise to God..

The prayer of the day is conducted by the Pastor.

Baptisms: On the first Sunday of each month, baptisms are performed.  Click on the link to learn more about Lutheran baptisms from Pastor Brad and its significance to becoming a child of God.

Word: This portion of the service concentrates on learning about the word of God through the following:

Children's Message:  Hope is blessed with many children.  The Pastor will prepare a special message for Hope's youngsters each week during the service which is fun for everyone.  Click on the link to see and hear some examples of the children's message.

Lessons from the Bible:  Passages from the bible are read from different congregation members each week.

The Holy Gospel:  Readings from Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John are read by the Pastor and used as the material for the sermon.  Click on the icons below to hear the Pastors read the Holy Gospel.

(An example from Pastor Brad.)

The Sermon:  Hope has been blessed to have Pastors who are extremely talented on sharing the word of God through the sermon and focus on relating the Gospel to our daily lives and continually challenge us with what it means to be a disciple of God.  Click on the link to hear some audio excerpts of Pastor Brad and Former Pastor Will.

Gospel Songs and Songs of Affirmation of Faith:  Click on the link to hear examples.

Prayer of the Faithful:  Here, the Pastor prays for the congregation, those who are sick, the community, and the world at large.  In some services, the congregration will respond by saying  "Hear our Prayer" or through song such as, "Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying". (Click the note to hear an example.)

Meal:  The center of the worship service is Holy Communion, which occurs in every service at Hope.  During the Meal portion of the service, we experience:

Sharing of God's Peace:  The Pastor encourages the congregation to share God's peace as well as share our names with those whom we do not know in order to promote a stronger community of faith.

Offering:  Tithes and offerings are accepted as the Worship Team sings a special song for the service.

Prayer of Thankgiving and Words of Institution:  The Pastor will give thanks to God and explain about the night in which Jesus was betrayed.  Click on the link to hear this prayer before the congregation.

The Lord's Prayer:  Before every communion, we say the prayer that Jesus taught us.  Click the link to read the Lord's Prayer.

Holy Communion:  The Pastor, along with communion assistants, administer communion to the congregation.  Click on the link to learn more about Holy Communion.

Songs During Communion:  During communion, Becky Gee leads the congregation in song.  Click on the link to hear some examples.

Sending:  In the sending, we sing upbeat songs to glorify God.  Finally, the Pastor will perform the benediction and dismissal. (Click on the icon on the left to hear an example.)
