Pastor Brad's BAG
Perhaps my greatest concern about married couples is that many have the impression that they are the only ones that experience difficulties. They look around at other married couples on Sunday morning or Wednesday night and imagine that these other couples have their lives in perfect order. Anyone who has been married for any amount of time (and is willing to be honest) will tell you that nothing could be farther from the truth.
Every marriage has its great days. Every marriage has its gray days. As a very wise person once put it, there can be no such thing as a perfect marriage. Why? It’s simple, really. When imperfect human beings are involved in a relationship, perfection is simply not possible.
Freedom comes in a marriage when husband and wife understand the gifts and the gaffes of each other and decide to love each other in the spirit of God’s love.
While I am no expert on marriage, I have been married long enough to know that every married couple can benefit from simply taking time to talk, to listen and to speak the truth in love.
I invite you to an opportunity to nurture and strengthen your marriage at a Marriage Enrichment Retreat being held at Hope on Saturday, March 13. The seminar will begin at 8:30am and conclude at 5:00pm. The day’s program will include presentations by professional counselors from the Samaritan Counseling Center, time for couple conversation, and worship that will include Holy Communion and an affirmation of marriage vows.
Cost for the seminar is $50.00 per couple. The registration deadline is Monday, March 8. Child care will be provided at no cost; if needed, check this off on your registration. You may register online or on the front bulletin board at Hope.
My wife, Becky, and I are looking forward to this opportunity to strengthen and nurture our marriage. I hope to see you there.
Your Brother in Christ,
Pastor Brad
