Pastor Lauren's Blog
This is why I’m always appreciative of the church season of Lent this time of year. Lent forces us to examine the “blah” that’s inside us. It challenges us to focus on disciplines that bring us closer to God, rather than being complacent. We realize that we’re hungry for something more, and this hunger leads us to realize that nothing but God can fill that emptiness.
Lent also makes us more aware of the new life that is springing up all around us. Daylight is longer, buds sprout on trees, and crocuses push out of the damp earth. New life can also be found in our hearts and in people’s lives. Grudges are forgiven, a relationship is strengthened, new paths are forged. We remember again God’s promise of resurrection and celebrate God’s faithfulness. The “blahs” of grayness and death will not have the last word.
I pray that we may all have a holy Lent, and an Easter bursting with warmth, light, and resurrection joy.
Peace,
Pastor Lauren
