Be Still
This past weekend a group of senior high youth, along with Pastor Lauren, Stephanie Herrle, and Beth Oldham, headed out to Stony Lake Lutheran Camp for a retreat. The theme was "Be Still and Know that I Am God." We were challenged by some questions from Rob Bell's video "Noise," and you may be as well:
--Why is silence so hard to deal with?
--Does all the noise in our life make it hard to hear God?
--Does my schedule, my time, my life look like that of a person who wants to hear God's voice?
We spent some time in solitude and silence, and found that while it can be hard to have the discipline to regularly be still and listen for God's voice, it's really important and powerful when we do!
In addition to our time alone with God, we also spent a lot of time together. We designed candles to help us focus during our "Be Still and Know" times, had some fun times at the Silver Lake Dunes, had a candlelight worship service at midnight and a morning prayer service on the lakeshore, and ate a lot of food!
We're really excited about this year's senior high program...Sunday morning's FAITH5, Sunday night's SNL Unplugged, fellowship and service projects, and planning for next summer's service and adventure trip.
