  • CAMP

Stony Lake Lutheran Camp in New Era, Michigan offers kids of all ages an opportunity to experience a week away for summer fun in a faith-filled environment. It is a safe place for all of God’s children to experience intentional community centered in Christ where they are formed in their faith, developed as leaders, and equipped as servants of the gospel. (And Pastor Amy highly recommends it!) Here are some possibilities for your kids this summer:

Elementary Camp includes Explorers & Discoverers (1st-6th grade)- A classic camp experience designed for your child to discover the love and grace of Christian community as they also begin to discover who they are as children of God.

Middle School Camp includes Challengers Confirmation Camp (6th-8th grade)– Campers become part of building a great camp community through team-building activities, low and high ropes courses, and shared time spent learning more about God and each other.

Servant Hearts Camp for High School (8th-12th grade)–Christian faith is lived out as leadership and service. In each of our Senior High Programs campers practice leadership and/or service for the church, their communities and beyond. (Bridge Builders is another offering for high school students interested in growing as leaders, developing peer ministry skills, and joining the fight against racism as an expression of your faith & our call to love our neighbors!)

    Ready to sign up?

Go with others from Hope on Week 6 • July 22-27 (Mon. – Sat.)

Attend Bridge Builders on Week 7 • July 29 – August 3 (Mon. – Sat.)

OR choose another week between June 16 and August 3–lots of options are available!

To find out more details about camp for kids at Stony Lake, talk with Pastor Amy Cooley Higgs (in person or at pastoramy@hopeon12.com), pick up brochures at the Welcome Desk, or check out the camp website here.

We hope you’ll make CAMP a part of summer 2024 and a part of your kids’ faith timeline!

  • Cross and water

Baptism is sometimes a point of debate among the Christian community. Should babies be baptized? Only adults? Is it simply symbolic or is there something more mysterious happening?

As a Lutheran congregation, we believe that adults, kids, and babies can be baptized. Why? Well in some ways it's simple -- Jesus asks it of us.

There certainly is more to be discussed and we would be happy to talk to you about it!

If you are interested in having your child or yourself baptized, please email the above address or call the office during business hours.

  • FIRST COMMUNION

    FIRST COMMUNION

CONTACT: PASTOR AMY COOLEY HIGGS | EMAIL

Holy Communion is a gift from God! As with any gift that God bestows, it is given with no strings attached—there is nothing we can do that makes us more or less worthy to receive the gift. When kids receive a gift, it is natural to want to know all about what it is, how it works, and what to do with it. That is what the First Communion class is designed to teach our kids.

  • Confirmation

    SIGNUP 2023-2024 | CURRENT SCHEDULE

Anyone is welcome to affirm their baptism at any time in order to be reminded of the amazing grace God has given us! Confirmation is a special opportunity for our young people to publicly declare their intent to continue their faith journey and to receive the love and support of their congregation.

At Hope, Confirmation preparation usually begins in 5th grade. Students who are in 5th through 8th grades are invited to participate in this special faith formation. The Rite of Confirmation typically occurs in the fall of the students' 9th grade year.

As appropriate for their ages, confirmands will explore the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament in more depth than our younger children do in Sunday School. They will also have the opportunity to learn about Christian history, teachings, and ritual. Our goal is to give young people a solid foundation of love and support for what we pray will be a lifelong journey of faith made in curiosity, humility, and wonder.

Confirmation runs September through May. The 2023-2024 program year began September 20, but students are welcome to join at any time -- click here for this year's schedule.

YOUTH ROOM OPEN 6-8pm on WEDNESDAYS:  Youth are invited on Wednesday nights when Confirmation or Teen Ministry meets to come a little early to hang out, play games, etc. before we begin our class/session at 6:30pm, and as schedules allow, are welcome to stay as late as 8pm for pick-up.
