WORSHIP WITH US

Worship is an important part of our lives as followers of Jesus.  It is an opportunity for us to gather in community to experience God and to be renewed in our faith.  Worship creates a space where God meets us through God’s Word and Sacraments of Holy Communion and Holy Baptism, and where we as a community respond to God in our praise, prayer, fellowship, and giving.  Hope Lutheran Church is pleased to offer unique styles of worship to encounter God in different ways.

Each of our worship services provide a "come as you are" atmosphere where we celebrate Holy Communion every week and all are welcome to receive it. We don't print bulletins, however, all congregational responses and songs are provided on screen and we even have QR codes in the pews for easy access to online giving during offering. Once a month, usually on the second Sunday, we have Stephen Ministers who provide personal anointing and prayer during Holy Communion and we love kids in worship! Children of all ages are welcome in our worship services, and to come just as they are. Our 9:30am Summer Blended Worship (10:30am Modern Worship September-May)  includes a special children’s message and we have activity bags available to help keep them busy during worship.

All are welcome at Hope Lutheran Church -- Join us for Worship!

Pentecost Celebration & Spring Congregational Meeting
Sunday, May 19

  • 9:30am Combined Worship
  • 10:45am Spring Congregational Meeting & Sunday School
  • 11:30am Cookout

“In the last days it will be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.” – Acts 2:17

Join us for this very special Sunday as we celebrate Pentecost and gather as a church community for worship, fellowship, and our Spring Congregational Meeting.  Pentecost is the day we celebrate from Acts 2, when the promised Holy Spirit descended on the disciples and empowered them to go and be the witnesses in the world that Jesus had called them to be.  For this reason, Pentecost is often celebrated as “the birthday of the church”; and we will gather to celebrate our “birthday” this year and the kickoff to summer as we wrap up the program year.  Please join us for one combined worship service at 9:30am, after which we will hold our Spring Congregational Meeting.  Childcare will be available during worship at 9:30am and during the Congregational Meeting.  Sunday school will be held at 10:45am during the Spring Congregational Meeting, and families are invited to worship together at 9:30am.

Spring Congregational Meeting
At our Spring Congregational Meeting we will hold elections for the upcoming Strategic Planning Council terms beginning July 1.  Positions for election are President, Director of Leadership, Director of Facilities, and one At-Large position.  We will also provide a mid-year financial update and brief ministry update from staff.  Childcare and Sunday School will be offered during the meeting.

Pentecost Cookout
After the Congregational Meeting, we will gather together outside (weather permitting) for a cookout hosted by Hope’s Men’s Ministry, to fellowship and celebrate together.  Hope’s Men’s Ministry will be hosting the cookout but are looking for additional volunteers to help with cooking, set up, and serving.  If you are interested in helping with the cookout, please sign up here.

Please mark your calendars and join us for this very special “Birthday” celebration!

Under Construction: The Wisdom of God

Summer Worship Series
Sundays, 9:30am (10:30am Fellowship Hour)
May 26-September 1

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own insight.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6

How do you know which way to go? What voices, guidance, or wisdom do you follow to help navigate your way through life? Much like the roads during summer construction season, it can be challenging sometimes to know what to listen to, what to do, or where to go. So where does God’s voice fit into all of that?

The Bible is filled with what we call “wisdom literature”; books and verses that provide us with guidance to help us live our lives. During this summer of road construction season, as we experience the struggles of which ways to go and which signs to follow, we will also be diving in deeper to some of this wisdom found in the Bible, and how God “works on us” through these wisdom passages to shape us and how we live.  Join us on Sundays at 9:30am for worship this summer, as we uncover God’s wisdom found in the Bible and how it helps us to find our way.

FREEDOM & DIVERSITY IN CHRIST

Wednesday, June 12 (Outdoor if weather permits)

  • 6pm Fellowship Meal & Service Project
  • 7pm Worship (livestream not available)

Join us for our first of three Hope Summer Nights for food, fellowship, service, and worship!  We will gather starting at 6pm for a meal and fellowship, followed by worship at 7pm with a special emphasis on Freedom & Diversity in Christ, honoring both Pride Month and Juneteenth.  All activities, including worship, will be outside at our Portico; we will have chairs available, but all are welcome to bring their own lawn/camping chairs, blankets etc.  We will also have a “Kid-Zone” for our younger members to enjoy and play while they worship.  There is no cost for the meal, but free-will donations may be given to cover the cost of the meal, as well as regular offering in worship.

Lighthouse Service Project

As we uplift freedom and diversity this month, we also take time to recognize and care for all in our community by providing support to Lighthouse, an organization that provides food and housing assistance in Oakland County.  During the mealtime from 6-7pm, we will be assembling Welcome Bags, comprised of various personal and hygiene items, for Lighthouse to share with visitors and residents at their shelter.

Lighthouse Special Offering

In addition to assembling Welcome Bags, we will also collect a special offering for Lighthouse leading up to and at worship that evening, to answer Lighthouse’s “Summer Hunger” appeal for extra funding needed to help stock their food pantries, when children are out of school and families are in greater need of food.  Donations to this special offering can be made through June 12 here.  We will have a special blessing for the Welcome Bags and Special Offering to Lighthouse during worship on June 12.

Invite your friends and neighbors, and please join us for this special evening!  Future Hope Summer Nights will occur on July 10 and Aug 14.  Watch for more information coming soon!

PROGRAM YEAR WORSHIP SCHEDULE

(September - May)

Our regular worship schedule runs now through May 12. See above for schedule changes for Pentecost and our summer schedule including Summer Nights. Our regular schedule will resume September 15, 2024.

  • TRADITIONAL WORSHIP 8:30am

Our Traditional Worship Service has a traditional Lutheran worship feel, including liturgy, readings, and hymns, mostly accompanied by organ.  We also have a Choir which sings regularly at this service and is always looking for new members!

  • MODERN WORSHIP 10:30am

Our Modern Worship Service has a casual, free-form feel and uses more contemporary and modern worship music (click here for playlists and more information) led by our Worship Band, including a special message for children.  During the school year (September-May) we also provide Sunday School during this service for children Pre-K through 4th grade.  Children participate in the beginning and ending of worship (to include Holy Communion) and depart during the message for their own time of learning in Sunday School.

  • Fellowship Hour

    FELLOWSHIP HOUR

  • While we welcome children of all ages in worship, we also offer child care during our 9:30am Fellowship Hour and 10:30am Modern Worship in a safe, friendly, and fun environment for kids up to 4 years old.
